Why do Asian Women Date White Men?

International relationships in Asia may have become a popular thing now but the reason as to why it is, is debatable. There’s the question of intention — why foreign men have taken an interest in Asian women. And there’s also the question of reason — why these women choose to be with these men.

Some say it’s because of money — since these men are commonly well off, they are seen as potential providers. Some also say it’s for social status — apparently being with someone of a different race gives you a boost of confidence.

Asia has become a hotbed for these international encounters. While Asian women can be considered trophy girls for their beauty and elegance, so can white men simply for being white.

This is because people think dating them is something to boast about around their friends. Unfortunately, for most of these (opportunistic) people, this “bragging rights” is really solely why they date these men.

So, does your girl truly like you or are you just a trophy she carries around to show her friends? When she is surrounded by men of her own race, whom she could connect with more, why did she still end up expressing interest in you?

What do Asian women usually like in men?

Before coming to the rash conclusion that Asians only like white men, and that it is only because of the reasons stated above, let us first explore what they commonly look for in men in general. And it doesn’t really take a genius profiler to know about their preference.

Asian women are women. They have the same ideals and desires as every woman when it comes to relationships. Most of them go look for the default ideal man as their standard: a nice guy who is romantic, who can take care of them, make them feel safe and special. Someone who can be there for there — the basic prince charming.

But then again, why do a growing number of them end up with white guys?

Why not Asian, don’t they have any of those listed characteristics? What is it about white men that these beautiful women fall in love with?

It’s really because of preference and attraction. Who we date is who we’re attracted to, obviously. But who we are attracted to is also unconsciously affected by society and its ideals. We date who society tells us to date, prefer who it’s encouraging us to prefer.

Sure, it’s really all about preference but media representation also has an effect on this.

Stereotypes are true

Captain America, Clark Kent, Stephen Strange: what do these men have in common? Yes, they’re superheroes, but they are also undeniably white.

White men in the media have been pictured as these perfect, romantic, heroic men, who seem to have their lives all put together, and if not, they, to the very least, can manage to put it together. Now, which woman doesn’t want that as a partner?

Asian men are more commonly portrayed as these nerdy or career driven men, who prefer spending their nights reading, studying or working than meeting girls and partying. This stereotype has even been acknowledged by some Asian men and women.

These men have expressed that perhaps one of the reasons why more white men end up “stealing” Asian women is because of the fact that most of them just have different priorities.

And when asked why they prefer seeing foreign men over men from the same race, these Asian women answered that they think these men are more conservative when it comes to expressing themselves, and most especially when it comes to choosing someone.

What do white men possess that Asian men don’t?

Other than these stereotypes, there are also other things that could have contributed to why Asian women are more attracted to white men than they are to Asian men.

Uniqueness. There undeniably is an initial attraction to someone foreign and unlike what we are commonly exposed to. Call it intrigue or fascination, but you can’t deny that there is also an initial pull of attraction.

It doesn’t help that once women have gotten to know them, the majority of these foreign men end up being gentler and kinder than Asian men.

Assertiveness. In relation to their uniqueness, white guys are said to be more assertive and expressive with their feelings. Comparing this to most Asian men, who are deemed too shy or hesitant when meeting other girls or approaching those that they like.

This confidence is one of the things Asian women appreciate, which in turn makes foreign men more appealing to them.

Experience. Some Asian women have expressed that the reason why they find white men attractive, and why they are interested in being with them is because they want to experience new things. They believe foreign men will offer them a different way of affection, in comparison to the men they’re used to.

Also, have these women ever been in relationships involving non-white men, say Asians? More commonly so. These ladies might have already been in relationships before, and some of them might have come from previous ones that didn’t turn out well.

This can be a factor why these women badly want to experience new things, and date in a different environment than before.

It’s not that they’re only attracted, it’s just they prefer them more

Love simply happens between people.

Doesn’t matter the race, the age, or the gender, but when we’re faced with the right person that makes us feel special and excited, then there’s no stopping us from falling for them. There isn’t one right way to tell preferences, and it’s especially not cool to generalize one race when defining their ideals.

AWFM, or Asian women-foreign men couples may be becoming very popular nowadays but it doesn’t mean there aren’t any Asian to Asian couples left. So it isn’t really about Asian women only liking white men, but more like them favoring this one foreign man over any other men.
