Foreign Men and Filipina Wives: Couples Success Stories

Many Filipinas have dreamed of marrying their ideal partner and living a happy married life.

They want the kind of love that lasts a lifetime. One that is not easily broken by misunderstandings and differences. The same kind that their parents have right now.

So when the opportunity for love comes along, Filipinas are quick to grab it, even if it comes in the form of a foreign man.

People are often doubtful of intercultural relationships between a Filipina and a foreign man. They often assume that it’s a transactional relationship and that there is no love between them.

Many Filipina-Foreigner couples would beg to differ.

Today, we’re going to look into the lives of these couples and how they learned to overcome the stereotype.

Brought Together by Faith: Jessica and David

Having similar interests as a couple gives you something to talk about. You feel animated when talking to your partner because you feel like they understand you.

You feel a pull toward them right away, and their connection with you is unlike any other. This rings even more true when you share the same values and beliefs.

Jessica and David are both devout Catholics. They both met each other through a dating site and were ecstatic to meet one another. They both had the same views when it came to marriage, so they connected instantaneously.

David was 8,000 miles away from Jessica, but he didn’t let distance get in the way of their relationship. They kept in touch and cleared their weekends for each other.

The day eventually came when neither of them was content with messages. And so, David bought a ticket for a flight from Michigan to Manila.

It took a year before they decided to visit each other, but it was absolutely worth the wait.

Jessica was as kind, attentive, and genuine as she was online. Ultimately, it was her family-centered attitude that made David fall for her. She was exactly what he was looking for in a wife.

Faith played a strong role in their relationship. It wasn’t long until they got married in her hometown, Negros Oriental. Her entire family was present for the occasion, and David has never felt welcomed.

Jessica gave him everything he dreamed of and more. A huge family, a loving relationship, and a good life.

Finding a Queen in the Queen City of the South: Gi gi and Brad

Traveling to a foreign land to find a bride is risky for anyone unfamiliar with the local scene.

Brad was initially hesitant to travel to Cebu for three reasons: he wasn’t familiar with the culture, he had a terrible sense of direction, and he wasn’t sure if he could find love there.

The closest thing he knew about the Philippines was from the Filipino caretakers who attended to him when he got admitted to the hospital. They were kind, accommodating, and happy people.

In fact, they were the very reason why he took an interest in the Philippines. Luckily, he managed to find a tour package that took his worries away.

The package included hotel accommodation, a personal tour guide, breakfast, and, best of all — a Singles’ event. A social function where Cebuanas and single men from all around the world get to meet each other.

Having gone through a tough divorce, Brad saw this as a chance for him to start a new life. He had hopeful but realistic expectations. What he didn’t expect, however, was that he would find his missing half.

There was an overwhelming number of women in the venue. But a lady by the name of Gi gi stood out from the rest. Gi gi was as friendly as the Filipinos Brad encountered.

Out of all the Cebuano women he was introduced to, Gi gi was the one who caught his eye. She radiated genuine kindness and was an absolute ray of sunshine. Brad couldn’t help but be drawn to her like a moth to a flame.

Brad’s goal was a relationship, and he got exactly just that. After some arrangements, they worked on getting Gi gi’s visa so they could start their family. She gave him a son, and Brad couldn’t have been any happier.

He’s even more grateful at how Gi gi kept being his ray of sunshine for years. She still has the same positive attitude when they first met.

Cebu was the last place Brad had ever thought he’d find the love of his love. But he was glad he gave it a chance.

Exchanging Vows in the Land of Promise: Helen and Harvey

Given the chance, most Filipinas would prefer to live outside their country. It would give them a fresh start, and the standard of living is pretty good.

But not Helen and Harvey.

To Helen, Davao was her everything. Although she was open to dating a foreign man, she was not willing to leave her birthplace.

Helen made that clear when she started dating Harvey. Luckily for her, Harvey understood her sentiments. In fact, it was he who proposed the idea of him living in Davao.

It took him some time to adapt at first. But it’s not much of a big deal to Harvey. He completely fell in love with Davao much like how he fell for Helen.

To David, Davao was a place of purity, love, joy, and respect. It’s also the happiest place on Earth — all because Davao had Helen.

When Helen asked him if he was willing to stay with her, he did not hesitate one bit. Helen was a very compelling reason for David to stay. Davao made it even more so.

He has already adapted to the culture and the people. Everyone in the community has wholeheartedly accepted him too.

Davao owns a huge piece of his heart, right below where Helen is placed.

Take Your Chance, Visit the Philippines

Just like them, you too can find your special someone in the Philippines. You wouldn’t know unless you try.
